Greetings, and welcome to my blog, JobAfterPrison.com. My name is Eugene K Henderson, and I have worked in the Customer Service Industry for a good part of my adult life. I’m frequently asked by jobseekers, “Are you guys hiring?” or “How can I work here?”
This 3 page article is very good background material, for understanding the dilemma that employers face when contemplating hiring an ex-convict. I consider it to be must reading for those who are transitioning from a life in custody, to a job in the free world. The main point of the article is that, a successful job search requires one to shed the antisocial thinking associated with a criminal past, and adopt a positive attitude about life. Tough attitudes that make a person respected in the streets, or behind bars, will kill any chance of continued employment, when displayed in a work environment. It’s imperative for a job seeker to know and understand this. Employers do not want to knowingly hire a trouble maker.

I give them the pertinent information, and then I find that in some cases they have a criminal past. Background checks have become standard operating procedure for many employers, and this has had a negative impact on those with a criminal record. This unfortunate situation has kept many rehabilitated people from securing stable employment, or made it extremely difficult for them to do so. I started this blog, to do all I can to bridge the gap.

If you’re truly unemployable, you may have no alternative other than to Hire Yourself. This is not only possible, it’s a very straightforward path to employment success. The guide on the left is a free resource that I found that contains virtually all of the information that an ex-offender will need to enjoy a post prison career. Released in late 2009 the guide includes an explanation of a person’s rights as someone with a criminal record and provides a clear outline for the steps needed to plan and start a business. Even if ex-offenders are not interested in starting their own business the guide also provides useful information on getting identification documents, knowing where to look for a job, and being financially literate. It also contains helpful tips for dealing with the stigma of being a person with a criminal record. If you have Adobe Acrobat on your computer, you can download and save it, or print it out for easy reading. the report is out there, but many individuals are not aware of how or where to find it. That’s why I created this blog. This is not a

I thought about for a while, and then I decided to make this blog to bring resources and information to those who find themselves in this
The best way to hook up with a job is at a restaurant. Why? Because they will pay you cash under the table. Don’t be surprised if you work as a waiter and get paid $20 an hour because people are generous with tips. (Again, depending on the restaurant)

But the best way to find employment even if you’re ex-convict is the Internet. Because nobody cares on the Internet if you have a criminal background. As long as you get the job done, they don’t give a darn.

Plus it’s easy to get hired, because you’re working at home and they don’t pay for health insurance or whatever, but by the hour.

There are plenty of jobs on the Internet such as freelance content writer and stuff like that. You don’t need college degree either — there are plenty of high school drop like me making a good living on the Internet. You dig?
